The Clear Mandate – End of Coalition Politics

The Cover says it all….

On May 16, 2014, the General Elections of the largest democracy of the world came to an end. The results were out and Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party emerged the largest single party with monstrous 282 seats. BJP led National Democratic Alliance got a whopping 336 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha.

Thus, Narendra Modi becomes the 15th Prime Minister of India with a clear mandate. Coalition Politics have come to an end citing the intelligence of the 21st century Indians who have for the first time discarded caste-based, vote-bank, dole politics and have opted for development and growth. A comprehensive victory for the people of India.

As Modi took oath as the PM on May 26, several issues lies in front of him. He has to deliver on all his promises. He could deliver with ease as he has got a clear mandate and has perished the Opposition. Passing of Bills and ordinances in the Parliament will get easy and transparent. Narendra Modi would have to fully exercise his mantra of “Maximum Governance, Minimum Government”. He should make the Prime Minister’s Office very very powerful. Modi’s top-most agendas shall be in the infrastructure, agriculture and environment sectors. In the coming 3 months, he should focus on energy, economy and administration by bringing in necessary reforms.

After a year, Modi Government should address social welfare and foreign affairs issues along with improving the depleting groundwater levels in the northern states. After 36 months, Modi should focus on education and judiciary. Education reforms and social infrastructure shall be developed further.

At the end of his term, India should be back on the growthpath with economy rising at 10% per year. Almost every state should be electrified and bureaucracy should be optimized to the fullest.

I hope, Narendra Modi-led government will deliver these promises and bring India out of policy paralysis and from the aura of negativity.

NaMo !
